LA DOLCE VITA AT ARTRAMON. LA TRAVIATA IN WEXFORD.

Fancy an opera by Antonin Dvorak, Georges Bizet or Kurt Weil? Artramon may be away from the bustle of life, but that does not mean you have to do without the touches of culture. Just six short kilometres away is the lively harbour town of Wexford which fort he last 60 years has been hosting an annual Opera Festival in October.

The two-weeks of the Wexford Opera Festival is without doubt the musical highlight of Ireland's south-east – if not of the whole island. The town is part of the festival so in addition to the star attractions you will find a host of musical events scattered around the town.

The Wexford Opera is not only the oldest in Ireland but for many years was the only one. In 2008 the town opened a spectacular new opera house partly designed by Ciaran McHahon and Keith Williams and was showered with international architecture prizes.
